The winner of the Healthy Chef promotion will be selected today but in the meantime enjoy some of the answers we’ve received to date:
Mauro’s favorite vegetable is zucchini because it can be used in summer (BBQ) or winter (stews and soups), and in dessert (carrot-zucchini muffins) or main courses.
Geoff’s favorite fruit is Okanagan nectarines. Cycling the Kettle Valley Railway Line years ago with a friend, we popped out onto the highway after hours on the dry, dusty trail. There was a small shaded fruit stand where a young girl was selling fruit from the family orchard. I will never forget the experience of biting into a huge, ripe nectarine, the juice running off my chin and down my arm, slaking my thirst. It may have saved my life that day.
My favorite veggie is baby Bok Choy. It is just so easy to prepare, seems to compliment any dish and tastes great. Even better with a tiny dab of butter and a little salt and pepper. Yum.
Doris declared her favourites as being the Atualfo Mango – love the sweetness and so velvety!
